How to Delete Comments on TikTok: Yours and the Ones on Your Videos
It is rarely the comment you left this morning. It is the argument under a stranger’s video in 2021, the reply you signed with a name you no longer use, the flirting left on an account you now use for client work — or a comment section under your own video that turned into something you do not want on your profile.
TikTok’s answer for one comment is a few taps. Its answer for four hundred is the same few taps, four hundred times. There is no select-all in your comment history, no way to say “everything before 2023”, and no search box for the one word you regret typing. That is why the answer to how to delete comments on TikTok depends on which comments you mean.
This guide covers all three jobs: one comment, your whole comment history, and the comments other people left under your own videos — plus the filters that delete only the comments carrying a particular word or date.
How to Delete a Comment on TikTok
Open the video, tap the comment bubble to load the comment list, and find your comment. Press and hold it until the short menu appears, then tap Delete and confirm if TikTok asks. The comment vanishes for everyone immediately. TikTok notifies nobody, there is no trash folder, and on current builds the steps are the same on iPhone and Android.
The full path for a comment you left under someone else’s video:
- Open the video. If you cannot find it, your comment history is the fastest route back — see the steps further down.
- Tap the comment bubble on the right-hand rail to open the comments.
- Scroll to your comment. Yours normally sits near the top of the thread when you open it from a notification.
- Press and hold the comment. On your own comment the short menu offers Delete alongside Copy.
- Tap Delete, and confirm if TikTok asks.
On a video you posted yourself, the same press-and-hold on any comment gives you Delete, because TikTok grants the creator that control over their own comment section. That is the rule worth holding on to: you can remove your own comments anywhere — with one exception, below — and anyone’s comments under your own videos.
How to Delete Comments on TikTok in Bulk
Everything you have ever written is listed in one place. Open Profile, tap the menu button in the top corner, then Settings and privacy, then Activity center, then Comment history — labeled Comments on some builds. Either way the contents are the same: every comment you have left, newest first, each with the video it sits under.
Tap a row to jump to the comment in its thread or, on current builds, press and hold a row to delete it without leaving the list. On builds with a selection mode you can tick several and remove them together.
Where it stops, and it stops early:
- There is no select-all. You delete one comment at a time, and the selection mode some builds add selects rows you tap, one screen at a time — never the whole history.
- There is no search. You cannot ask the list for the comments containing a name, a handle or a word.
- There is no date filter and no sort on current builds. You scroll, and the list loads more as you go.
- It only covers what you wrote. The comments sitting under your own videos are a separate job, in a different part of the app.
For twenty comments that is fine. For the whole history it is an evening, and it is the exact reason people go looking for a tool.
How to Delete All Your TikTok Comments with Unpost
Unpost is a mobile app for iPhone and Android that repeats the deletion for you. TikTok is one of the platforms it covers, and comments get two separate rows in its content picker, because they are two separate piles:
- Delete Comments — in the app’s own words, “Comments and replies you left, under anyone’s video.”
- Delete Comments On My Videos — “Comments on your own videos — everyone’s, not only yours. Each one is checked against the keyword and date filters before it goes.”
To be equally clear about the edges: on TikTok the app covers videos, reposts, both kinds of comments and watch history. It does not touch your DMs, your followers, the videos you liked, or your drafts. And deletion is permanent — there is no restore step anywhere in this workflow.
Clearing the comments you wrote is six steps:
-
Install Unpost and tap TikTok in the platform list on the home screen.

-
Connect your account through TikTok’s normal login page inside the app. Nothing is pasted into a website and no API key is involved.
-
On the list that opens, headed TikTok, open the Comments group and tick Delete Comments. The picker arrives as three closed groups — Your profile, Comments, Activity — with a description under every row once a group is open.

-
Tap Continue to reach the options screen.
-
Set filters, or skip them. Leaving the keyword list and the date range empty takes the whole history: as the keywords screen puts it, “If no keywords are entered, all content will be deleted.”
-
Tap Delete, read the popup, tap Got it. Important Information lists the four rules — keep the app in the foreground, don’t use the account while it runs, deletion is intentionally slow, deletion is permanent — and Got it starts the run. The progress card shows the running tally and how many selections are finished; stop at any point and whatever is already deleted stays deleted.

The run works through your history page by page, pausing about a second and a half between deletions so TikTok does not throttle it. If TikTok pushes back anyway, a limit-reached banner may appear with a Next retry in countdown, and the app waits and retries up to three times before moving on to the next comment. In the live log, comments outside your filters read Skipped and anything TikTok refuses reads Can’t be removed, so nothing is quietly counted as done.
The free plan covers 50 deletions a day, which is enough to clear a light history or to watch the whole workflow end to end before committing. A comment history in the thousands needs the subscription that lifts the daily cap.
Two Rows, One Run
Clear every TikTok comment you would not write today.
Install Unpost, connect TikTok through its own login page, tick Delete Comments and Delete Comments On My Videos, add a keyword or a date range, and start. Free plan included, 50 deletions a day.
Deleting the Comments Left on Your Videos
This is the creator’s half of the problem, and a different job. The comments are not in your history — they are spread across every video you posted, which means opening each one, loading its comment section, and working down it.
Natively, you already have the controls, one video at a time. Press and hold any comment on your own video and tap Delete — or Hide, which leaves it visible to its author and nobody else. On current builds the same menu offers Manage multiple comments, where you tick up to 100 and delete, report or block the accounts behind them in one action. Genuinely useful after a single pile-on; hopeless across two hundred videos.
In Unpost, that job is the Delete Comments On My Videos row, and it behaves like this:
- It walks the videos on your profile, and for each one reads the comment section in full before deleting anything — everyone’s comments, not only your own replies, because they sit on a video you own.
- A video TikTok reports no comments for is marked No comments and passed over; a video whose comments will not load is marked Skipped rather than reported as cleared.
- Every comment is checked against your keyword and date filters individually, so a filtered run clears the words you named and leaves the rest of the thread standing. The walk reads the top-level comments on each video; replies go with the comment above them and are not matched against your keywords on their own, so a keyword run can leave a reply standing.
- Very deep threads have a backstop: one video’s walk stops after roughly five thousand comments, and once those are gone, a second run reads the next five thousand.
You can tick both comment rows in the same run and let the app do the two jobs back to back. The same “your own posts only” rule applies on other platforms too: deleting the comments on your Facebook posts works to exactly the same boundary.
Delete Only the Comments That Matter: Keyword and Date
Most people do not want an empty comment history. They want the eleven comments with one name in them, or everything from a year they would rather forget. TikTok gives you neither filter. This is where the app earns its place.
Every comment mentioning a word, a name or an old handle. On the options screen, open Delete by Keywords, type a word into Type keyword here, and add it — it appears in the Active Keywords list, and you can stack as many as you like. Only comments containing at least one of those keywords are deleted; everything else is marked Skipped. Matching ignores capitals and matches inside longer words, so alex also catches alexander. Add the surname, the old @handle, the band name, the ex’s nickname — whatever the comments you are hunting have in common.

This is the one filter TikTok users are usually told they cannot have. TikTok’s own keyword tool, in Settings and privacy → Privacy → Comments, is a shield for new comments: words on that list get hidden as they arrive, and it does nothing about the ones already posted.
Everything from a certain period. Open Select Date Range and set a Start Date and an End Date. Both are needed for the filter to apply. Each comment is judged on its own timestamp, not on the age of the video it hangs under — so a comment you left last month under a video from 2019 counts as last month. A comment with no readable date is left alone whenever a range is set, rather than deleted unmeasured.

Set both filters and a comment has to pass both: inside the window and containing one of your keywords.
The filter that does nothing here. The Content Filters section bounds a run by likes, comments and views, and the app states the limit on the screen: “Applies to your videos only — likes and comments are not filtered by these counts.” It is for thinning your posted videos, not your comments. If that is the cleanup you actually want, our guide to deleting TikTok videos covers the view and like thresholds in full.
One more honest limit, printed under the keyword box: “Applies to comments only.” If reposts are next on your list, deleting a repost on TikTok takes a date range instead.
How to Delete Your Comment History on TikTok
“Comment history” sounds like a separate archive with its own delete button. It is not. Activity center → Comment history is a view of your live comments: each row is a comment that still exists somewhere on TikTok, so the row disappears when the comment does. Delete the comments and the history empties itself. There is no second cleanup step.
One thing makes a history look stubborn even after a good pass: comments under videos that went private. If the creator hid or restricted a video you commented on, TikTok will not accept a deletion for that comment at all — it is refused permanently, so the row stays in your list. Unpost marks them Can’t be removed and pages on. Comments under videos that were deleted are the easy case: they go with the video.
Every platform keeps a version of the same record, so emptying one tends to start a habit: how to delete Instagram comments is the closest comparison to this page, deleting all your Reddit comments is the Reddit equivalent, and the Instagram cleanup guide covers posts and likes as well.
What Deleting a TikTok Comment Does and Does Not Do
Deleting the video takes the whole comment section. If the comments under one of your videos are the problem and the video is expendable, removing the post clears everything underneath it at once — the steps are in our guide to deleting TikTok videos, linked above.
Clear the Comment Trail, Keep the Account
If one bad reply brought you here, deleting a comment on TikTok is a press-and-hold job and you are already done: open the video, open the comments, press and hold, tap Delete, confirm if TikTok asks.
If the real job is years of them, work in the order that costs least. Start with a keyword or two — a name, an old handle, a word you keep wincing at — since that is usually most of the discomfort. Then take a date range over the era you have outgrown. Then, if you post as well as comment, run Delete Comments On My Videos over your own comment sections. That is how to delete comments on TikTok in bulk without giving up an evening, and fifty deletions a day is free, so the first pass costs nothing but the time it takes to tick two boxes.
Comments are the part of a profile people forget to check and the part a stranger reads first, which is why they sit on every social media cleanup checklist before a job search, and why the wider case for pruning an old trail is worth a read in our guide to the practical privacy benefits of doing it.
One Word, Every Comment
Delete the comments with that name in them.
Connect TikTok in Unpost, tick Delete Comments, add the keyword or the date range, and start the run. The keyword filter applies to comments only — which is exactly this job. Deletion is permanent.
