Data Stored Locally on Your Device
FollowerScan stores the following data exclusively on your device using local storage (AsyncStorage). This data is never transmitted to our servers:
- Instagram session data: cookies and authentication tokens required to communicate with Instagram on your behalf.
- Account information: your Instagram username, profile picture URL, follower count, and following count.
- Follower and following lists: snapshots of your followers and following lists used to calculate insights such as new followers, lost followers, and mutual follow status.
- App preferences: your selected language and other settings.
All of this data remains on your device and is fully removed when you sign out of the app.
Data We Do NOT Collect
We want to be transparent about what we do not do:
- We do not store your Instagram password.
- We do not upload your followers or following lists to any server.
- We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising.
- We do not create user profiles on our servers.
Third-Party Services
We utilize the following third-party services for specific operational purposes:

Instagram Data Access
FollowerScan requires you to log in to your Instagram account through a secure web-based login within the app. This allows us to access:
- Your public profile information (username, profile picture)
- Your followers list
- Your following list
This data is fetched directly from Instagram to your device. We do not act as an intermediary server. Session credentials are stored locally and are cleared when you sign out.
How We Use Your Information
The information processed by FollowerScan is used exclusively for:
- Displaying your Instagram follower and following analytics on your device.
- Calculating insights such as new followers, lost followers, and mutual follow status.
- Improving app stability through anonymous crash reporting.
- Managing premium subscriptions.
- Analyzing aggregate app usage patterns (no individual tracking).
Data Security
We implement the following measures to protect your data:
- All data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers.
- Instagram session tokens are stored securely in your device's local storage.
- Signing out completely removes all stored data from the device.
- Communication with Instagram uses HTTPS encryption.
Data Retention
Since all personal data is stored on your device:
- Data persists as long as the app is installed and you remain signed in.
- Signing out removes all account data and cached follower lists.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View the data stored on your device at any time through the app.
- Delete: Remove all your data by signing out or uninstalling the app.
- Opt-out of analytics: Analytics data collected by third-party services is anonymous and aggregate. You may limit ad tracking in your device settings to reduce data collection.
