Reddit: randomize or delete, what each option does

On Reddit, Unpost can overwrite your posts and comments with random words, or delete them for good. You choose on the options screen, before the run starts.

    Tap the account and choose Delete from Reddit

    Delete from Reddit works on what Reddit still lists for you. Delete from data package works from your Reddit data export and reaches older content.

    Pick posts or comments on the Content tab

    The Content tab has Delete Posts and Delete Comments. Your chats are on the Dms tab: the chat messages you sent are deleted, not overwritten.

    Randomize Content, the free default

    Each post or comment stays up, and its body text is replaced with random words. Despite the option’s wording “before deletion”, nothing is deleted in this mode. Titles stay as they are, since Reddit doesn’t let anyone edit them, and image, link and video posts have no text to replace, so the run leaves them as they are with no Randomized mark: use Delete Content for those.

    Only unedited content

    On by default: anything already edited is skipped. Overwriting counts as an edit, so if a run was stopped or cut short, the next one skips what is already overwritten instead of doing it again. It also skips posts and comments you edited yourself: untick it if you want those overwritten too.

    The Unpost line under overwritten text

    On the free plan, the random text ends with a short line linking to unpost.app, such as “Anonymized with Unpost”. With Premium, tick Remove [Unpost] affiliate to leave it out; it’s off by default.

    Delete Content, with Premium

    Deletes each post or comment for good, with no random text left behind; Reddit may still show a [deleted] placeholder where others had replied. On the free plan this option is locked: subscribe on the Subscription tab to use it. When you pick it, the two tick boxes under Randomize Content disappear: they only apply to overwriting.

Perlu diketahui

  • Reddit runs have no daily cap. The account row (Free Daily) and the sheet (free deletions left today) still count down for Reddit; after a long run the row can read Free Daily: 0 and the sheet line disappears, but none of it is applied: Reddit runs start and carry on regardless.
  • Reddit lists only about a thousand posts and a thousand comments per sort order. Unpost walks several sort orders; a Delete Content run keeps going as deletions bring older items into view, while a Randomize run can’t, because overwritten posts stay in Reddit’s list. For content Reddit no longer lists, use Delete from data package.
  • After a Randomize run the result screen still says items deleted: that number is the posts and comments that were overwritten, and nothing was removed. The run’s list marks each one Randomized.
  • You can delete overwritten posts later: Delete Content removes them whatever their text.
