How to delete only a date range

The date range is the first section of the options screen you reach with Continue, titled Delete all Messages. Discord, Slack, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn have it; X and Reddit don’t.

Tap Continue and find Delete all Messages
After ticking what to delete, tap Continue. The first section, Delete all Messages, has one switch, on at first, beside the line All messages will be deleted.

Turn the switch off and pick two dates
The calendar opens. Tap the first day of the range, then the last, and confirm. The line now reads Only messages in the selected date range will be deleted, and the Start Date and End Date boxes show your range; tap them to change it.

Check the line before you tap Delete
If the calendar is closed with a date missing, the switch turns back on and the line says All messages will be deleted again: everything you ticked would go. Tap Delete only when it reads Only messages in the selected date range will be deleted.

Know what the range covers
On Discord and Slack, every message you ticked is checked against the range. On Instagram, posts, reels, carousels and DMs are, as the line under the section says; likes, comments, Unfollow All and Remove All Followers run whatever the date. On Facebook, everything you ticked is checked, with two exceptions. Albums carry no date, so they are skipped (its line says so). And Delete Photo Library also deletes the photos inside your albums, whatever their date (see the first note). On TikTok, your videos, reposts, comments and watch history are checked; a repost counts by the day the original video was posted, not the day you reposted it. TikTok’s line reads Applies to videos, likes and comments, but this list is what the run checks. On LinkedIn, posts, reposts and comments are checked; reactions aren’t, and go whatever the range.

- On Facebook, untick Delete Photo Library while a range is set: the range narrows the photos it reads from your Photos tab, but it then also deletes every photo it finds inside your albums, whatever their date.
- There is no setting for deleting oldest or newest first: a run works through your content in the order the platform lists it.
- The free daily allowance still applies inside a range. On the free plan, a range with a lot in it takes several days.
